You Can't Improve a Culture You Don't Evaluate
Most leaders I talk to believe their culture is "pretty good." And they're usually not wrong. But "pretty good" isn't the same as aligned, intentional, and actually working for you.
Without evaluation, you're relying on gut feel, anecdotal feedback, and what you hear from a handful of trusted people. Those signals are incomplete. And sometimes, they're misleading.
The real danger isn't a broken culture. It's a gap you don't know exists—between what you believe the culture to be and what your people actually experience every day.

So here's the question I'd encourage you to sit with this week:
How do you know your culture is working?
Not how you feel about it. Not what you hope is true. What evidence do you have?
If the answer is mostly instinct, that's worth paying attention to. The organizations that turn culture into a genuine strategic advantage aren't the ones with the best values statements—they're the ones that consistently check whether those values are showing up in practice.
Evaluation isn't about surveys and dashboards. It's about clarity. And clarity is what makes better decisions possible.
If this resonates, I go deeper on this in this week's full article—including a real example of a leadership team that discovered their "collaborative" culture felt anything but, and what they did about it.
